Wisconsin Safe Resident Assistance Endowment

Safety when transferring residents.
Resident comfort and dignity.
Caregiver safety.

Each day, Wisconsin’s long-term care providers work hard to keep their residents and employees safe. Unfortunately, investing in equipment that helps you transfer residents safely, maintain resident comfort and dignity, and keep your caregivers safe can be difficult as many long-term care facilities face significant financial and workforce challenges.

As a major insurer of nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the Midwest, West Bend Mutual Insurance Company and Argent believe it’s important to ensure both resident and caregiver safety, as well as give back to Wisconsin’s long-term care provider community. That’s why the West Bend Mutual Insurance Company Charitable Fund has established an endowment for the express purpose of providing equipment to Wisconsin’s nursing homes and assisted living care facilities. The grants provide state-of-the-art equipment to improve transferring or transfer assistance for residents and caregivers, while easing the financial burden.

Here’s how the grants have made a difference:

“This lift will help ensure the health and safety of our residents and staff. We were delighted to be chosen as one of the winners in the Safe Resident Assistance Program. West Bend’s partnership with Leading Age Wisconsin Foundation is a model for supporting the safety needs of our residents.”

- Barry Metevia
President – Community Health Services Corporation in Prairie du Chien

“We were simply thrilled to hear that we were chosen for this grant. The additional Sit-to-Stand lift…for our skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and memory care communities will greatly increase our residents’ mobility and their quality of life…These lifts will enable even more residents to increase their time socializing with fellow residents and taking part in special events and programs.”

- Michelle Putz
Vice President – Skilled Nursing Communities at Lincoln Lutheran of Racine

“I am proud that West Bend has provided us with a grant for a mechanical lift. We received a Hoyer lift with a scale. The lift has assisted us in giving greater care to our residents. One of the challenges we have…is obtaining accurate weights. Accurate weights are very important for a variety of medical reasons…We now have an excellent option for our staff to get our resident weights. This option is due to the wonderful grant we received. It is not only safer and easier to obtain weights, but transferring our residents, as well…Your company has made my job easier.”

- Rosemarie Thesing
Administrator at Pigeon Falls Health Care Center

“We were awarded a full body lift with a scale which our staff uses all the time. Our residents have nothing but good things to say about it. It wouldn’t have been possible without you!”

- Leah Rentmeester
Administrator at Marinuka Manor in Galesville

“Being able to receive such a reliable and important piece of assistive equipment for 10% of the cost is such a blessing. As we continually strive to safely serve our residents, the ability to obtain such dependable equipment is so important.”

- David Beinlich
Interim President of Luther Manor in Wauwatosa

- Luanne Schmidt
